A temporary opportunity is available for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support financial operations. The position is responsible for managing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, preparing HUD reports, and maintaining program-specific financial records. The role operates under general supervision and works independently to support multiple programs.

• Prepare journal entries and assist with monthly/period-end closings on the computerized general ledger system

• Reconcile bank statements and perform detailed account analysis

• Maintain financial records for federally funded programs such as C.G.P., C.D.B.G., and F.S.S.

• Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies (e.g., HUD)

Mathematical Skills

• Perform basic math functions: add, subtract, multiply, divide with whole numbers, decimals, and fractions

• Compute ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs

• Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form

• Solve basic problems involving a few variables

• Learn and apply financial policies and procedures

• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation

• Perform precise mathematical calculations

• Type at a minimum speed of 35 wpm

• Work independently with minimal supervision

• Communicate clearly and professionally, both written and verbal

• Build and maintain effective working relationships

• Experience Required: 2–4 years in accounting or finance

• Education Preferred: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, preferably with a focus in accounting

• Regularly required to talk and hear

• Frequently required to sit, use hands and fingers

• Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crawl

• Occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds

• Vision requirements include close, distance, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
