The Banquet Captain at The Luxe leads and supports the execution of banquet events with precision, elegance, and exceptional service. This role oversees the setup, service, and breakdown of functions while guiding banquet servers and ensuring that all aspects of the event exceed guest expectations. The Banquet Captain plays a key role in maintaining The Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel’s reputation for excellence in hospitality and event execution.

Areas of Accountability:
  • Meets and exceed customers and co-workers expectations by providing excellent service and teamwork.
  • Communicates effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Ensures efficient operation of banquet functions by coordinating and providing work direction for banquet personnel.
    • Holds pre-function briefing to determine specifications of each function.
    • Ensures quality service by assigning employees to work stations.
    • Ensures that servers take care of customers and are alert at all times.
    • Provides work direction to servers; verifies that servers are at work as scheduled.
    • Handles customer concerns and complaints promptly and tactfully.
  • Records functions on Banquet Sales Summary Sheet and processes accordingly.
    • Ensures that all checks are made, signed, recorded properly, and turned into the front desk.
  • Works closely with kitchen to coordinate food presentation, and delivery times for each function.
    • Ensures that employees follow proper sanitation practices.
    • Supervises the handling, storage, and security of all kitchen and banquet equipment used in function.
    • Reports all maintenance problems to appropriate personnel.
    • Inspects meeting rooms and public banquet areas for cleanliness.
  • Prepares a re-cap report of all events.
  • Prepares a financial re-cap of all events on a daily basis.
  • Keeps immediate Catering Manager fully informed of all problems or unusual significance.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
  • Supervise and lead banquet servers during events, ensuring smooth and efficient service from start to finish.
  • Review banquet event orders (BEOs) to confirm setup, timing, and service expectations.
  • Communicate with the Banquet Manager, Culinary Team, and other departments to ensure event success.
  • Coordinate room setup and breakdown, including tables, linens, silverware, AV equipment, and décor.
  • Greet hosts, maintain open lines of communication during events, and provide solutions to any concerns.
  • Maintain service flow and timing for food and beverage, including plated service, buffets, and bars.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, alcohol service, and sanitation standards.
  • Complete post-event breakdown and ensure cleanliness and reset of event spaces.
  • Train and mentor new banquet staff, modeling excellent guest service and attention to detail.
  • Complete all necessary reports, timesheets, and inventory logs post-event.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures.
    • Attends work as scheduled.
    • Follows hotel’s dress and grooming standards.
    • Minimizes safety hazards by following all safety rules and procedures.
  • At all times, projects a favorable image of Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel to the public.
