Fleet Maintenance Mechanic
EV.Careers is currently seeking a full-time Class A Mechanic for one of our partners that is a rapidly growing mobility and infrastructure services company focused on turnkey transportation solutions for technology companies, manufacturers, railroads, universities, corporate business parks, hospitals, airports, and public transportation agencies. In this position, you will perform skilled mechanical work servicing and repairing electric vehicle (EV) and diesel commercial vehicle fleets, including motor coach buses, while gaining valuable experience with cutting-edge electric vehicle technology.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues using a range of diagnostic equipment, devices, and electronic tools.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on motor coaches and commercial vehicles to ensure optimal performance.
- Operate various servicing equipment, including jacks, hydraulic hoists, battery chargers, pumps, and steamers, following established procedures.
- Execute routine mechanical repairs and adjustments, including the removal, replacement, or exchange of parts as needed.
- Inspect and identify problems within engines, transmissions, hydraulic, and electrical systems, reporting malfunctions for further diagnosis.
- Support complex repair operations to develop advanced mechanical skills.
- Respond to field service calls, performing standard checks, adjustments, or part exchanges to resolve equipment issues on-site.
- Maintain accurate service records and complete all necessary paperwork efficiently.
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of experience performing service and maintenance on heavy equipment.
- Strong understanding of general mechanical principles, including routine servicing, minor repairs, and adjustments.
- Proficient in the mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems commonly found in heavy-duty vehicles.
- Experienced in utilizing computerized diagnostic equipment and software for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Capable of performing physically demanding tasks inherent to the trade.
- Adept at reading and interpreting technical documents, such as electrical wiring diagrams, service manuals, and other reference materials.
- Skilled in executing a range of mechanical repairs and adjustments on vehicles, from routine to complex.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical training in diesel or heavy-duty equipment mechanics.
- Or, an equivalent combination of training and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Experience servicing electric vehicles (EVs).
- A valid Class B California Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements.
