Diagnostic Medical Sonography Advisor
Platt College Los Angeles consists of four Southern California campuses located in Alhambra, Ontario, Riverside and Anaheim. - Compensation Range: $ 24.00-28.00 /hour
The DMS Advisor supports the DMS program in all aspects of his/her duties. These duties include preparing DMS students for their SPI exam, specialty exams, tutoring and advising of students, visiting students at externship site, aiding with the acquisition of externship sites with an emphasis on extern to hire sites and working with students in lab settings as required. The DMS Advisor will also support other program personnel as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively and patiently with students and externship technicians
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong scanning skills
Credentials and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED Required
- AA/AS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- Passage of the SPI test required; prefer graduates who are making progress towards or have acquired RDMS licensure
- Recent graduate of DMS program preferred
- Work experience related to the course preferred
- Assists the DMS Program Director and Clinical Coordinator with daily organizational and administrative functions and students’ needs as directed. These include:
- New start paperwork for DMS and presentations, distributing scrubs, scheduling and organizing immunizations/vaccinations
- Helps the Clinical Coordinator as needed
- Helps career services with presentations, PAC meeting efforts, and employment placement efforts
- Certified CPR trainer for the DMS program, and other programs as needed
- Schedules and oversees Fire Safety class during DMS 255 (pre-clinical seminar)
- Helps students with SPI tutoring and testing (including scheduling)
- Supports students during lab assignments and other program requirements
- Assists Lab Aid with orders/inventory
- Assists with DMS Program open lab hours
- Additional duties and responsibilities as determined
- Exhibit excellent customer service and professionalism to all current students, prospective students and coworkers from all departments at all times
- Overtime as requested by supervisor – may include: evenings, weekends and/or holidays
- Attendance at Platt College Graduation Ceremony required if a job duty is assigned
- Able to lift 35lbs.
