Systems and Reliability Engineer I

Team:
The Integrated Performance department at Relativity Space is responsible for ensuring that our rockets will achieve our overall objectives and satisfy stringent customer and government requirements. Our department comprises teams responsible for Flight Sciences, including Aerodynamics, Thermal, Loads, and Dynamics; Integrated Structures Analysis; Guidance, Navigation, and Control & Vehicle Performance (GNCP); Systems Engineering; Mission Reliability; and Product Engineering. We architect and execute analysis, simulation, operations, and test projects for all of Relativity's hardware and software teams in pursuit of mission success. Overall, this department is critical to the launch success of Terran R! This is an entry-level technical role within the Integrated Performance department. We have multiple roles available in each of our three sub-teams: Systems Engineering, Product Engineering, and Mission Reliability. Each of these teams work together ensuring that the ‘big-picture' requirements, operations, reliability, and certification projects come together for all aspects of Terran R, from launch pads to engines to avionics and beyond. Each member plays an active role in ensuring Terran R will be successful.
What you'll do:
- Create and manage vehicle level concepts of operations
- Author test plans and drive cross-functional vehicle verification events
- Support vehicle integrated tests, stage acceptance testing, and flight
- Build, modify, or eliminate processes and tools amplify the design and verification process
- Help guide component, subsystem, and system architecture design to achieve our reliability goals
- Oversee engineering documentation and analysis including requirements, reliability analysis, interface control documents, verification plans, test plans, and data reviews
What you need to know:
- An undergraduate degree in engineering or related field and practical engineering experience, e.g., from project teams, internships, or research labs
- Passion for launch vehicles and spacecraft
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Experience solving challenging technical problems in teams
Nice to haves but not required:
- A graduate degree (MS/PhD) in engineering or related field
- Familiarity with launch vehicles and liquid rocket propulsion
- Proficiency with Atlassian products like Jira and Confluence
