The Role

As a Staff Backend Engineer at Heron Finance you will be responsible — along with our world-class engineering team — for building robust backend systems that handle millions of dollars across the lifecycle of onboarding, investment, dividends, and reinvestment with ease. We ruthlessly cut scope and follow an agile methodology. We work to create a high trust, empathetic team environment with high standards of excellence and integrity.

This role is full time, open to remote candidates in the United States and Canada.

Duties:

• Lead the design and architecture of innovative financial technology.
• Take ownership of the software development life cycle, ensuring the reliability, performance, and maintainability of the codebase for applications.
• Implement robust security measures and best practices to safeguard financial transactions and user data in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Provide technical leadership to a team of software engineers, guiding them in the development of complex solutions and mentor team members on coding standards, software architecture, and best practice.
• Conduct regular security assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and implement remediation strategies to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of financial and user information.
• Conduct regular code reviews, implement best practices, and apply optimization techniques to enhance the overall efficiency and security of the systems.

Who You'll Be Working With:

• Current or recent team is a mix of tech and finance veterans, with experience from some of the best companies in the world, including Coinbase, Airbnb, Medium, Rho, Lazard, and BlackRock.
• We're an entrepreneurial bunch. A large percentage of the team has started their own company in the past.

Position Requires:

• 7+ years of experience in a professional software context.
• Demonstrated ability to ship complex software to real users in production environments.
