Position Summary

The Division of Pediatric Urology at the UCSF School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and independent Postdoctoral Research Fellow with one year of demonstrated expertise in biology, 10x Genomics, and single-cell transcriptomic analysis. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge medical research projects focused on congenital and acquired disorders of the urinary tract. This is a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment where teamwork, innovation, and curiosity are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, execute, and analyze experiments utilizing single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and other next-generation genomic platforms.
• Work with datasets generated from 10x Genomics pipelines; perform downstream bioinformatic analysis using appropriate tools (e.g., Seurat, Scanpy, Cell Ranger).
• Analyze whole genome sequencing data sets
• Collaborate with clinicians, computational biologists, and research scientists in urology, nephrology, developmental biology, and related fields.
• Contribute to manuscript preparation, grant applications, and presentations at internal and external meetings.
• Develop independent research questions that align with the division's mission.
• Mentor students and junior research staff, as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, or a closely related field.
• One year of demonstrated experience in single-cell analysis and 10x Genomics workflows.
• Three years of educational experience of basic molecular biology techniques and principles.
• Formal classes, education, and training in interpretation of whole genome sequencing data.
• Excellent data analysis skills and proficiency in R or Python.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or hold a U.S. permanent residency (green card).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in developmental biology, urology, or pediatric diseases.
• Experience with spatial transcriptomics, ATAC-seq, or multiomic approaches.
• Prior publications in peer-reviewed journals demonstrating relevant expertise.
