Accounting Manager
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Location: San Diego, CA (On-Site 5 days a week)
FLSA Status: Exempt

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30am-5pm with flexibility based on business needs
Pay Range: $110,000–$125,000 per year (Actual compensation will be based on experience, skills, and qualifications in line with company pay practices)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee the company’s daily accounting operations, with a strong focus on accounts receivable management, inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, and cash flow optimization. This role is responsible for managing the month-end close process, supervising accounting staff, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The Accounting Manager will also establish and maintain strong internal controls and drive efficient accounting processes. In addition, this position partners with management to provide financial analysis and operational insights that support improved profitability and inventory performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting Responsibilities & Financial Reporting:
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process
- Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations
- Maintain accurate documentation and supporting schedules for all reconciliations and journal entries
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies and unusual account activity.
- Prepare and review financial statements and management reports
- Ensure accuracy of general ledger activity and account reconciliations
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
- Analyze financial results and explain variances to management
- Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Oversee inventory accounting for high-volume SKUs
- Ensure accurate cost of goods sold (COGS) calculations
- Monitor inventory valuation, reserves, and adjustments
- Coordinate cycle counts and physical inventory
- Analyze inventory shrinkage, slow-moving inventory, and obsolescence
- Accounts Receivable Oversight
- Supervise AR processes
- Ensure timely vendor payments and customer collections
- Monitor customer credit limits and aging
- Resolve billing disputes with sales and operations teams
- Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Establish and maintain a robust system of internal controls to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Coordinate with external auditors for the annual audit process and ensure compliance with tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including tax filings and reporting obligations.
- Cash Management:
- Monitor and manage the company’s daily cash position, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs.
- Update cash flow forecasts with actual cash activity
- Oversee cash receipts, bank reconciliations, and cash application processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Review and approve cash transfers, wires, and ACH transactions in accordance with internal controls
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven hands-on experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations (GAAP/IFRS).
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move office materials up to 20–25 pounds

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to traverse and access all areas of the warehouse.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, or crouch for extended periods
