Position Overview:
NHTI is seeking qualified adjunct faculty to teach courses within our Mechanical Engineering Technology A.S. program, including courses on 1) Measurement and Control and 2) Dynamics and Mechanical Design I. This program educates students in the mechanical engineering field and includes courses in the areas of design, manufacturing, and controls. Math and physical sciences are emphasized to give students the basic knowledge to work with changing technology. Course work incorporates theory and practice with extensive computer applications, including computer-aided drawing/modeling and design.

    • Course Description:
      A study of the effect of forces acting on rigid and deformable bodies subject to static and dynamic loading and the utilization of this knowledge for the design of mechanical components. Major topics include strength and fatigue, kinematic analysis, power transmission, design methodology, and computer applications.

    • Course Description:
      Begins with the study of basic electronics (analog and digital) and electronic components (transistors, op-amps, SCR’s). Electromechanical principles are introduced, leading to consideration of sensors and transducers used in production processes. Paralleling this sequence is the development of programming in Visual Basic. These two paths join during the second half of the course where programming logic controllers (PLCs) and relay ladder logic (RLL) are presented. In the lab, students gain hands-on experience with all hardware and software covered in the course.

Key Responsibilities for Courses:

  • Teach the assigned course using provided curriculum and instructional materials aligned with program standards.
  • Facilitate class discussions, assignments, and assessments to foster student engagement and learning.
  • Provide regular feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Maintain professional currency in the field and comply with college policies and standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:

Individuals with a Bachelor’s degree in the subject/content area or closely related field to the teaching assignment, or a Bachelor’s degree in Education and an Associate’s degree in the subject/content area closely related to the teaching assignment combined with three (3) years of related teaching or professional work experience shall be considered as meeting the subject/content area requirements.

Master’s degree in the subject/content area, or a Master’s degree in Education with twelve (12) graduate credits in the subject/content area or closely related to the teaching assignment and a Bachelor’s degree in the subject/content area closely related to the teaching assignment combined with a minimum of two (2) years of related teaching and/or professional work experience is preferred. Individuals must possess required licenses or certifications as required within the field.

  • Residency: Must reside in NH, VT, ME, MA, RI, or CT.
