Since it was founded, VBG has guided more than 35,000 Veterans through the complicated Veteran Affairs (VA) disability claims process. What We Are Looking For:

A strategic, user-centered Senior Product Manager will join the Veteran Benefits Guide's growing Product Delivery team. In this role, you will lead the vision, strategy, and execution of key internal-facing digital applications that serve our employees and business partners. You’ll partner with engineering, UX, operations, and business stakeholders to design innovative solutions that streamline workflows, enhance employee experience, and align with our broader IT and business goals. This role sits at the intersection of technology, user experience, and business operations. You will own the full product lifecycle, from discovery through launch and iteration, for high-impact internal tools and systems.

Requirements

Essential Functions:

Product Strategy & Planning

• Define product strategy and roadmap aligned with organizational strategies and stakeholder needs
• Translate business goals into clear problem statements, product initiatives, and success metrics
• Prioritize product features based on data, user input, and business value

Product Development & Delivery

• Lead cross-functional collaboration across engineering, UX, QA, and support teams
• Own the product backlog: write epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria in JIRA (or similar)
• Guide product through sprint planning, UAT, and deployment
• Partner with DevOps and IT to ensure scalability, security, and platform alignment
• Host knowledge transfer (KT) sessions with the Support Team to ensure smooth product handoffs and issue resolution readiness
• Troubleshoot reported bugs and production issues in collaboration with engineering and support stakeholders

Stakeholder Engagement

• Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders throughout the organization
• Conduct discovery sessions, requirement gathering, and regular demos
• Manage communications around product updates, releases, and roadmap visibility

User Experience & Research

• Championing a user-first mindset using Design Thinking principles
• Partner with UX designers to test concepts, review wireframes, and validate experiences
• Use feedback loops (surveys, interviews, usage analytics) to iterate on product features

Product Analytics & Optimization

• Defining and tracking key metrics to evaluate success and guide decisions (adoption, engagement, satisfaction)
• Leverage tools like Google Analytics, Splunk, and internal dashboards for insights
• Identify and address performance issues, gaps, and friction in user workflows

Qualifications or Competencies:

• Proven success delivering complex digital products in cross-functional team environments
• Deep understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and full product lifecycle management
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to influence without formal authority
• Familiarity with tools such as Smartsheet, Confluence, JIRA, Figma, Google Analytics, Postman, Salesforce, NetSuite, and Paylocity
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across business, design, engineering, and analytics teams
• Experience working with platforms such as CRM, HRIS, LMS, or other employee-experience systems
• Technical fluency in APIs, data visualization, and system integrations
• Background in high-growth or enterprise IT environments preferred

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Human-Centered Design, or a related field
• Equivalent practical experience with a strong portfolio will be considered
• Advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSIS) are a plus
• Relevant product management, Agile, or technical certifications preferred

Experience:

• 5+ years of product management experience, ideally focused on internal tools or enterprise platforms (e.g., CRM, HRIS, ERP, LMS, SaaS)
• Track record of end-to-end product lifecycle ownership—from discovery through delivery and iteration
• Proven ability to operate in matrixed environments with engineering, UX, BI, and business stakeholders
• Strong skills in setting and measuring product KPIs, prioritizing work, and maintaining a clear roadmap

Supervisor Responsibilities:

• The Senior Product Manager is expected to provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and performance oversight, ensuring that the team delivers high-quality solutions aligned with business objectives. Responsibilities include work prioritization, professional development support, and fostering a collaborative, outcome-driven culture.

This position will directly oversee a cross-functional team that may include:

• Product Managers and Junior Product Managers
• Systems Administrators and QA Analysts
• Software Developers and Engineers
• Product Designers and UX/UI Specialists
• Other contributors involved in product development and delivery

Salary Description

$101k to $145k
