Job Description and Duties

Under the supervision of the Operations Support Bureau Chief (DESA I) or Administrative Services Section Chief (OSS II), the Program Technician II (PT II) in the Central Intake Unit is responsible for the monitoring and equalizing new cases assigned to case adjudication teams. The PT II screens cases; calculates case assignments daily to ensure equity; retains/manages unassigned cases in Central Intake Unit; and acts as a resource to staff performing intake/closure functions in the adjudication teams. The PT II researches, analyzes and resolves complex case edit issues, performs liaison activity with SSA Regional and Field Offices on system related issues, prepares week reports, provides system maintenance and support, and assists with training staff.

The PT II (Intake) is a full participant on the team in making decisions regarding team endeavors related to providing service and resources to ensure efficient operation of the Branch.

• Perform highly technical work related to disability claims coming from Social Security offices.

• Perform assignment of cases and troubleshoot issues for line staff.

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

• Consult with management and team members on claims processing efficiency and claimant concerns.

Working Conditions

This position is eligible for hybrid work in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order N-22-25 and at the sole discretion of the Department of Social Services under California Government Code Section 14200. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be re-evaluated at any time. The incumbent will be expected to report for in office work and attend work related in-person events as deemed operationally necessary. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the CDSS policies. Headquarter location may be designated on the selected candidate's primary residence location, and/or the closest CDSS location in accordance with operational need and available space. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Training and Development assignments may be considered based on the availability of eligible candidates and are subject to approval by the Hiring Authority prior to appointment. Training and Development assignments are temporary in nature and shall not exceed twenty-four (24) months.
