Product Testing Technician
- Performs a wide variety of tests on refinery process samples and finished products per established procedures
- Test methods vary from simple methods such as density/gravity, color, and viscosity to more complex methods such as knock (octane) testing, automatic distillation and titration, gas chromatography, etc.
- Is required to learn and perform approximately 180 different tests following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that comply with ASTM, CARB, EPA, or in-house testing methods.
- Utilizes standard Quality Control / Quality Assurance processes to ensure accuracy and precision of results
- Validates data, performs calculations, and reports test results
- Strong problem-solving skills. Identifies risks and takes action to eliminate.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Job necessitates driving on a routine basis
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Bachelor's Degree in Natural Science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) or Technology (Engineering, Computer Science, Manufacturing) or 3 years of full analytical laboratory testing experience
- Must possess a Valid CDL Driver's License
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC card.
- Able to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime. QCD is a 24/7 operation and Lab Operators are required to work shift work, 12-hour shifts, typically working 14 out of 28 days per month.
- Good computer skills and problem-solving ability.
- This is a Safety Sensitive Position. Candidates must demonstrate personal commitment to Incident and Injury Free Operations with a proven track record in Safety and Reliability.
- Bachelor's Degree in Natural Science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) or Technology (Engineering, Computer Science, Manufacturing)
- 10 years Laboratory testing experience
- Refinery/Chemical Plant Process Operations.
- Knowledge of refinery test methods (e.g. ASTM methods for: GC, AA, IC, XRF, elemental analysis, and wet chemistry)
- Understands Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Demonstrated ability to consult on analytical instrumentation and test methods, including method development and equipment/instrumentation purchase and repair
- Knowledge and understanding of refinery processes
- Experience with chemometric modeling and analysis.

- The anticipated hourly wage can make up to USD $ 41.65 - 54.18 . The selected candidate's compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
