Job Description and Duties

The Nutrition Services Division (NSD) mission is to assist agencies with meeting the nutritional needs of school children in preschool through grade 12, and infants and children in childcare institutions! The NSD operates the Pomona Distribution Center (PDC) that services counties in Southern California.

Under the supervision of the Materials and Stores Supervisor (Mat & St Sup) in the PDC, the incumbent performs a variety of distribution center activities. The Warehouse Worker (WW) is responsible for receiving, storing, inventorying, and issuing U.S. Department of Agriculture Foods and Department of Defense Fresh Fruits and Vegetables; loading and unloading trucks or other common carriers; and transporting materials to specified areas, either by hand or by use of powered or nonpowered equipment. Occasionally, the WW operates motor vehicles and works for extended periods in the freezer and cooler sections of the PDC.

This position requires the incumbent to work for extended periods of time in a warehouse and loading dock area which has some outdoor exposure and subject to seasonal weather conditions, as well as in the facility's cooler and freezer where food commodities are stored and which have extremely cold temperatures. Requires lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, and climbing such as up on to a forklift. Additionally requires ability to operate a forklift.

Position designated as safety sensitive and is subject to reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.

Due to federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, WWs are required to have forklift experience and will be trained, tested, and certified if selected.

TELEWORK OPTION

IN OFFICE POSITION

This position is headquartered at the Pomona Distribution Center, 2550 Fulton Road, Pomona, CA 91767, and requires the incumbent to report to the office five days a week. This position is not eligible for telework.

Special Requirements

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Prior warehouse experience with picking, pulling, and inventorying

• Familiarity with warehouse equipment including powered pallet jacks and forklifts

• Experience with warehouse management systems used to track items and orders being pulled

* Ability to work collaboratively with all team members

* Regular and dependable attendance

• Valid Class C driver's license required
