Senior Staff Product Manager: QuickBooks Capital Lending Risk (Mountain View)
Job Overview
Intuit QuickBooks is on a mission to power prosperity around the world for small businesses. QuickBooks Capital provides crucial funding to help these businesses grow and thrive. We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Senior Staff Product Manager to lead our Lending Risk capabilities for our current (Line of Credit, Term Loans) and future lending products.
This is a critical, high-impact role responsible for the end-to-end product strategy and execution across the entire credit risk lifecycle – from acquisition and underwriting through portfolio management and recovery. You will be instrumental in building and managing innovative, data-driven Lending Risk capabilities that enable responsible business growth, maximize return on investment (ROI), and enhance customer satisfaction.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Credit Policy, Data Science, Operations, Business Development, and other Product Managers to define the future of risk management within QuickBooks Capital. If you are passionate about leveraging technology and data (including AI/ML) to solve complex risk challenges and empower small businesses, this role is for you.
Responsibilities
- Product Strategy & Vision: Own and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Lending Risk capabilities across all QuickBooks Capital lending products. Identify, define, validate, and prioritize opportunities based on customer needs, business impact, and technical feasibility.
- Thought Leadership: Act as the product thought leader for Lending Risk. Identify critical customer requirements, understand business goals, define the desired end-state product experience, and partner with development teams to design optimal, scalable solutions.
- Lifecycle Management: Oversee the product lifecycle for risk capabilities, including:
- Acquisition: Define strategies to accurately assess creditworthiness, expand eligibility (e.g., to non-QBO customers), optimize application flows, and integrate new data sources.
- Offering/Underwriting: Drive the development and deployment of advanced ML models, scalable policy engines, real-time data pipelines, improved operational tooling, and automated underwriting solutions to quickly and accurately offer loan terms.
- Portfolio & Account Management: Develop capabilities for proactive risk monitoring, automated collection triggers, customer-level exposure management, and features like Credit Line Increases (CLI) for LOC.
- Customer Focus: Conduct in-depth customer research, usability studies, and experiments to deeply understand lending-related customer problems and their critical jobs-to-be-done. Champion the customer perspective throughout the product lifecycle.
- Data-Driven Execution: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of risk capabilities against customer needs and business goals. Use data to inform prioritization, communicate progress, and demonstrate success.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead and collaborate effectively with Engineering, Data Science, Credit Policy, Operations, Design, Marketing, and other partners to ensure successful discovery, development, launch, and iteration of risk products and features.
- Roadmap Execution: Drive the product roadmap from minimum viable product (MVP) to significant scale, managing trade-offs and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality capabilities.
Join us at Intuit QuickBooks and make a tangible difference in the success of small businesses!
Qualifications
- Experience: 6+ years of product management experience, specifically designing and delivering lending products, ideally within the FinTech or financial services industry with 5+ years of those years in Product Management specifically within the credit risk/lending domain.
- Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of the credit risk domain across the full lending lifecycle: acquisition, underwriting, portfolio management, collections/recovery. Familiarity with modern risk assessment techniques, including the application of AI/ML for decision-making.
- Strategic Thinking: Proven experience in defining product vision and strategy, translating them into actionable product roadmaps, and influencing long-term direction.
- Customer Obsession: A strong track record of working closely with customers and partners, employing deep empathy, listening skills, and a customer-focused approach to shape strategy and priorities.
- Execution & Program Management: Proficiency in managing complex program/project deliverables involving multiple teams, dependencies, and timelines. Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive execution from concept (MVP) through to significant scale.
- Leadership & Influence: Excellent collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to lead execution across diverse teams and influence stakeholders across different functions and levels of the organization.
- Communication: Inspiring written and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively articulating vision, strategy, and results to audiences ranging from small technical teams to senior executives and large groups.
- Data-Driven: Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making, including defining success metrics and measuring outcomes.
- Education: BS or technical degree preferred, or equivalent relevant work experience.
