Responsible For: Market Staff
Salary/Wages: $ 18.00 hour DOE Position Summary:
The Market Supervisor will assist the Market Manager and manage the store in times of absence of the Market Manager to ensure that the Market is running smoothly and that products are available for customers. The Market Supervisor is required to work closely with employees; leading them by example when completing tasks, delegating responsibilities and empowering their growth and professional development. The Market Supervisor will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to all customers and fellow employees. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Experience working with the public is necessary.
- Maintain operational hours as scheduled by the Market Manager.
- Operate all Market computer systems including both the P.O.S. and Inventory system.
- Operate all Deli equipment.
- Train staff on Market cash drawer processes.
- Provide back up during staff shortage or high customer volume.
- Prepare and submit employee schedules and verification of hours worked by Market employees.
- Submission of bi-weekly timesheets to payroll.
- Coach, train and develop Market personnel.
- Prepare, submit and present employee performance evaluations.
- Counsel and discipline employees through to termination if necessary.
- Assist in reviewing and correcting daily paperwork for Market staff.
- Assist in balancing the safe and change box.
- Speak clearly and listen attentively to both employees and customers.
- Assist with inventory, pricing and ordering of merchandise.
- Ensure operation of the Market in the manager absence.
- Ensure maintenance and repair of Market equipment and property.
- Observe and adhere to all health and safety regulations in compliance with those adopted by the Chemehuevi Indian Tribe.
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned by management.
- Must be age 21 or older and have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have at least 3 years of retail grocery supervisory experience.
- Must be able to use Excel and Word on an intermediate level.
- Deli related experience preferred.
- Must have knowledge of an inventory process.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, days and nights.
- Have previous experience with a retail POS and Inventory system.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Some college preferred or a combination of education and experience.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for periods up to four hours in length.
- Must have ability to lift pots, pans, etc., up to 40 lbs. and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
- Must be able to work on wet floors and in temperature extremes of both hot and cold.
- Requires standing for long periods of time, frequent bending, grasping, reaching and some climbing.
- Must be able to move and lift up to fifty pounds on a regular basis when unloading freight truck inventory.
