Lead Frontend Engineer

Robust is looking for a Lead front-end engineer to own the UIs that are necessary for our robots to perform their functions. This involves working in several different areas, each with their own challenges:

- The authoring application, which is used by our roboticists to write robot behaviors.

- The fleet management tools, used by integration engineers and customers to issue commands to, configure, and keep track of the fleet.

- The on-robot UI, a touch interface mounted on the robot.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain robust web applications using React/Next.js.
• Lead frontend architectural decisions, ensuring solutions are well-engineered, maintainable, and aligned with long-term technical strategy.
• Translate requirements and designs into high-quality, production-ready code.
• Own the end-to-end delivery of frontend features, from technical design to deployment and monitoring.
• Collaborate effectively with backend engineers, product management, and other stakeholders.
• Actively participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge.
• Stay current with frontend best practices and tooling, evaluating and recommending new technologies where appropriate.

• Minimum 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on front-end development.
• Deep proficiency and extensive hands-on experience with React and its core principles (hooks, context API, etc.).
• Strong understanding of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and modern web standards.
• Experience with state management libraries (e.g., Redux, Zustand, Context API).
• Familiarity with modern frontend build pipelines and tools (e.g., Webpack, Vite, Babel, npm/yarn).
• Experience writing and maintaining frontend tests using frameworks like Jest, React Testing Library, or similar.

• Experience with TypeScript.
• Experience with server-side rendering (SSR) or static site generation (SSG) frameworks (e.g., Next.js, Remix).
• Experience with UI component libraries and design systems.
• Experience with performance monitoring and optimization tools.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with implementing Authentication systems.
