Seasonal Clerk
Job Description and Duties
Now is your opportunity to join our dynamic and versatile team in the State's largest and most significant law firm in California. The California Attorney General's Office is looking for a motivated individual who is interested in gaining knowledge, building experience and growing within the department by assisting the legal support and docketing unit with administrative office procedures.
Under the supervision of a Legal Support Supervisor or Business Services Officer I, the Seasonal Clerk will provide light clerical and administrative assistance to members of the Docketing Unit, Business Services, Legal Support management, and/or regal secretarial teams. The Seasonal Clerk support to the Docketing Unit includes the use of multi-function equipment, case management system and other software applications to scan and convert paper documents to electronic format; open/close and setup electronic files; assemble/organize contents of case files; box and label files for shipping; request case files from the Department's offsite storage locations; prepare records transfer lists; file miscellaneous documents; pickup/deliver mail and legal case files to appropriate section, and assist with other clerical functions.
The Seasonal Clerk may provide coverage in the Executive Unit, various Business Services units, Legal Support management, and secretarial teams, as needed performing various tasks. May copy/scan documents; deliver supplies; coordinate building maintenance requests; maintain photo copier and maintenance reports; escort vendors; gather data and assemble report; health and safety matters; organizational projects; special projects; assembly of documents; schedule appointments; meetings; conference calls; prepare travel expense claims; create indexes of case files by reviewing exhibits and pleadings; and other administrative or clerical functions as needed.

Working Conditions
This position does not offer tele-work and requires the Seasonal Clerk to be in-office.
Special Requirements
- Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving state public assistance under the CalWORKS program. Able to effectively and efficiently carry out assigned tasks independently or with moderate supervision, exercise good judgment and have strong communications skills, as well as the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and the public; demonstrate initiative and willingness to assume responsibility for identifying and resolving issues within span of authority; work well under pressure and meet short deadlines; and willingness to assume special projects. Efficiency in Adobe, Word, Excel, and Outlook are desirable.
