Site Reliability Engineer
Natcast (short for The National Center for the Advancement of Semiconductor Technology) is a new, purpose-built, non-profit entity created to operate the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC) consortium, established by the CHIPS Act of the U.S. government.

Site Reliability Engineer
Sunnyvale, CA (Hybrid)
In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing Natcast's hybrid-cloud environments that support design centers across the globe. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure that enables our mission-critical semiconductor research and development operations.
Every day, you will work at the intersection of cutting-edge cloud technologies, traditional enterprise infrastructure, and next-generation development workflows. Your expertise will be crucial in managing how workloads are distributed between on-premises data centers and public/private cloud platforms, ensuring that our design centers can seamlessly collaborate, innovate, and scale while maintaining high availability.
To thrive in this role, you must possess deep expertise in hybrid-cloud architectures, automation, and infrastructure management, coupled with a strong understanding of security and compliance requirements. Your ability to balance reliability and innovation while supporting multiple design teams will be essential to our success.
Natcast is a trailblazing non-profit entity established under the CHIPS Act to operate the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC) consortium. As a key component of the CHIPS and Science Act, Natcast is dedicated to advancing semiconductor R&D in the United States, convening government, industry, and academia to address the most challenging barriers to technological progress in the domestic semiconductor industry.
The Site Reliability Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the robust technical infrastructure that enables Natcast's mission of advancing U.S. semiconductor capabilities through reliable, secure, and efficient computing environments.
Responsibilities:
Design, deploy, and manage hybrid-cloud solutions spanning across on-premises data centers and public/private cloud environments
Architect and maintain integrations between on-premise infrastructure and cloud services
Develop and maintain automated deployment pipelines and Infrastructure as Code
Implement comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging systems across environments
Optimize performance and ensure cost-effective resource utilization across hybrid-cloud platforms
Provide high-level technical support for design centers
Plan for growth, optimize resource allocation, and implement disaster recovery strategies
Ensure security compliance across all environments
Collaborate with development, cloud, and security teams
Implement and manage Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Indicators (SLIs), and Agreements (SLAs)
Support specialized semiconductor design and research workloads
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
3+ years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar role
Strong experience with managing cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and on-prem infrastructure
Experience with containerized applications and orchestration platforms
Advanced proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools
Expertise in monitoring, logging, and observability tools
Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, Go, or similar languages
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools
Strong problem-solving skills and experience with incident management
Familiarity with security practices in hybrid cloud environments
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting high-performance computing workloads or specialized engineering tools
Cloud platform certifications
Experience with serverless technologies or cloud-native application architectures
Knowledge of distributed databases and caching mechanisms
Familiarity with semiconductor design workflows and tools
Experience with FedRAMP and NIST compliance requirements
