Retail Counter Sales Representative

POSITION OVERVIEW Provides excellent, professional, and responsive customer service, promptly and courteously assisting customers with purchases and the efficient processing of all orders and inquiries. Asks pertinent questions and answers customer inquiries and provides information to support sales. Plays an important role supporting Company revenue growth and increased market share goals. Performs related work as required. REPORTS TO: Store Manager or Store Supervisor RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES - Performs all duties following established safety policies and regulations, with personal safety and the safety of employees and customers in mind.
- Maintains a clear understanding of the proper usage and capabilities and safety parameters of applicable machinery, processing equipment, and handling devices.
- Maintains showroom and other designated areas of responsibility in a clean, neat, and organized state.
- Recognizing that the customer is the highest priority, emphasizes customer satisfaction throughout the sales process.
- Encourages the development of lasting business relationships with customers.
- Follows up on customer orders, resolves problems to the customer's satisfaction, responding in a timely manner.
- Consistently demonstrates excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing contributing to a positive customer experience.
- Effectively communicates any relevant policies and/or procedures regarding purchases, returns, credit terms, etc. to customers.
- Manages cash and processes credit cards accurately for customer transactions.
- Proactively manages product inventory to include ordering products and materials, keeping designated areas fully stocked, cycle-counted, and organized.
- Utilizes proper forms, drafts and properly stores documents and reports.
- Continuously updates product knowledge through any available resources. Stays informed and educated as to product specifications, capabilities, inventory and applicability.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location. - Demonstrated understanding of Best Management Practices (BMP) related to sales and customer service.
- Strong knowledge and clear understanding of Company products and processing equipment.
- Excellent communication skills.

- Knowledge of and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite computer software.
SKILLS - Practically applying proficient basic math skills, basic material layouts and application, proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation in an application to the uniqueness of IMS and its industry
- Maintaining a positive attitude, pleasant demeanor, and a well-groomed, professional business presence.
- Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written skills.
- Proficiency in operating modern desktop computers, related software, and related modern office equipment.
- Exercising independent judgment and decision making based on standard policy and procedures.
- Proficiency in utilizing Industrial Metal Supply (IMS) Business Systems.
- Operating a caliper, cash register, tape measure, and micrometer.
ABILITIES - Ability to analyze fairly complex product data and develop innovative recommendations and solutions in association with sales and customer service.
- Ability to prioritize, take ownership of, and focus on critical initiatives.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and customers, and the public.
- Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports, both manually and electronically.
- Ability to be an effective team member and lead projects.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to adapt to changing business, market and Company conditions
REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS - High school graduation or equivalent and a minimum of two years of progressively responsible related experience.
