Data Analyst
Job Summary
A mission-driven public sector organization in Sacramento, CA is seeking a Contract Data Analyst to support the Emergency Preparedness and Organizational Strategy department. This role is ideal for an experienced data analytics professional who enjoys combining business analysis, stakeholder communication, quality assurance, and technology evaluation to support practical operational improvements. The Data Analyst will help assess conference room booking solutions, analyze requirements, support CMMS data quality initiatives, and prepare recommendations for leadership. Key Responsibilities - Gather, document, and analyze stakeholder requirements related to conference room booking technology and business process needs.- Research available technology solutions, coordinate demonstrations, support testing, and summarize findings for leadership review.
- Develop data-driven recommendations that align with operational goals, user needs, and organizational requirements.
- Support CMMS data analytics and quality assurance activities, including data review, issue identification, and table refinement.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to coordinate data updates, process changes, and system-related improvements.
- Use tools such as Power BI, SQL, and Microsoft Office to analyze information, prepare reports, and communicate insights clearly. Compensation and Benefits - Pay: $32.00 per hour.
- Job Type: Contract/Temporary.
- Schedule: Approximately 18 hours per week.
- Assignment Length: Approximately 24 weeks, with potential for extension.
- Start Date: August 24, 2026.
- Location: On-site at main headquarters on S Street in Sacramento, CA.
- Hours are limited to 960 hours within the applicable CalPERS fiscal year. Required Qualifications and Skills
- Evaluate conference room booking solutions and support technology selection recommendations.- Gather and analyze stakeholder requirements across business and operational teams.
- Support CMMS data analytics, data quality review, and quality assurance activities.
- Coordinate demonstrations, testing, research, documentation, and stakeholder feedback. - 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in data analysis, business analysis, technology evaluation, or a related analytical role.
- Proficiency with Power BI for reporting, dashboarding, or data visualization.
- SQL experience for querying, reviewing, validating, or analyzing structured data.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience reviewing data quality, identifying inconsistencies, and supporting data cleanup or data governance efforts.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills with the ability to gather requirements and explain findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Project coordination skills, including organizing meetings, tracking action items, coordinating feedback, and supporting decision-making.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented approach with strong analytical thinking, documentation skills, and follow-through. Preferred Qualifications - Experience working in a government, public sector, utilities, facilities, emergency preparedness, or organizational strategy environment.
- Familiarity with CMMS platforms or facilities-related operational data.
- Some experience with web development, HTML, CSS, or front-end configuration concepts.
- Experience supporting software evaluations, vendor demonstrations, user testing, or technology implementation planning.
- Ability to translate business needs into clear requirements, process recommendations, and leadership-ready summaries.
