POSITION TITLE: Facilities Maintenance Specialist
STATUS: Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Support Services
REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager
SAFETY SENSITIVE: HIGH - This position is designated as safety sensitive and is subject to pre-employment, drug, and alcohol screening.

The starting wage for this position is $26 per hour. This position is 20 hours per week.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOB: Provide routine maintenance for the Main Facility,
all Retail Facilities, and GIRE owned buildings in a manner that ensures maximum safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. Work is completed at the direction of the Facilities Manager.

PROVIDES SUPERVISION TO : None

RESPONSIBILITIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Prioritize repair requests on a weekly basis
  • Keep a log of repairs, status, and completion dates, and submit it to the Facilities Manager on a weekly basis
  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and purchase needed supplies on approval of the Facilities Manager
  • Perform periodic preventative inspections on electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to ensure safe and uninterrupted operations to the DGR Stores. Make repair recommendations to the Facilities Manager
  • Perform periodic preventative inspections on the interior and exterior of all GIRE owned facilities to ensure maximum safety, security, and appearance. Make repair recommendations to the Facilities Manager
  • Perform routine maintenance as needed at all locations, including carpentry, painting, landscaping, and other minor repairs
  • Inspect the roofs and clean the gutters and downspouts on a seasonal basis
  • Inspect and repair shopping carts for deficiency and safety in accordance with Facilities Maintenance Program.
  • Perform periodic facilities audits at the DGR Store and GIRE owned properties with guidance of the Facilities Manager.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with GIRE Policies

  • Adhere to all agency and CARF policies and procedures
  • Report accidents, unsafe vehicles, or other unsafe conditions
  • Other job-related duties as assigned by the Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • One or more years of experience in maintenance or related work, with demonstrated knowledge of basic building maintenance, landscape maintenance and tools required to perform the essential functions
  • Valid CA Class C Driver’s License, and an MVR allowing insurable status.
  • Ability to speak and understand English
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of Safety and Maintenance Programs and Procedures preferred
  • Must possess valid California drivers’ license, proof of auto insurance and be insurable under agency policy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Variable. Frequent exposure to travel conditions by company vehicle. Occasional exposure to clean, well-ventilated office space, overhead lighting, carpet, temperate climate, and constant exposure to moderate business office noise levels, such as office machines, conversations, and foot traffic. Occasional exposure to all weather conditions. Occasional exposure to uneven walking surfaces including cement, asphalt, gravel, dirt, rooftops, landscaping. Occasional exposure to machinery. Occasional exposure to high levels of dust and other airborne particles. Occasional exposure to various levels of noise.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: You will be standing, lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, and walking continuously, with frequent pushing, pulling, and grasping. Ability to lift 50 pounds and maneuver weights with proper equipment. You will climb ladders occasionally. Visual ability and gross manual dexterity are required.

PROMOTIONAL & DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES:
Currently there are no identified promotable paths beyond demonstration of mastery of this position, while also taking on new responsibilities. Training and/or certifications may be required; and any promotion is based on business needs.
