Zapier's Integrations team is on a mission to ensure that Zapier has integrations for the AI apps in the market, and to expand and maintain the by Zapier tools . This team has a close relationship with top stakeholders in the industry to keep up with the new AI apps launched every day. This role offers a unique opportunity to guide a team working on high-visibility, high-impact projects that are fundamental to Zapier's mission of democratizing automation. About You

• You are a skilled engineering leader. You've got a strong background in leading a team of Engineers working in our stack (ideally Typescript & JavaScript, with a side helping of Python, Django, AWS infrastructure). You understand how your teams services work and can provide feedback on designs proposed by your engineers. You hold a high standard for operational excellence, monitoring service health and addressing issues.

• You are energized by platforms and integrations. You understand the power and challenge of building against APIs. You are passionate about making integration development easier, faster, and more reliableespecially when AI can augment or accelerate this work.

• Youre passionate about AIs potential in engineering workflows. Youre excited about a world where tools like generative AI improve developer experience, automate common maintenance tasks, and help expand the integration ecosystem with less manual work.

• You are an effective team builder . This isn't your first rodeo. You have at least four years of experience managing teams of at least 5 engineers Backend & Frontend Engineers. You know how to hire, train, and develop engineers from all backgrounds. You understand the benefits of building a diverse and inclusive engineering team.

• You are energized by no-code innovation. You see the transformative potential in making automation accessible to everyone, and you bring that enthusiasm to your partnerships with product and design teams. Your engineering expertise gives you unique insights into building powerful yet intuitive no-code tools. You're excited about the intersection of automation and emerging technologies like generative AI, and you're eager to explore how these advances can empower users to build more sophisticated workflows with less complexity.

• You can keep track of, prioritize, and lead multiple projects . There's no shortage of things you could be doing in a day. You'll carve out time for functional projects and make sure they solve real problems the team faces -- ideally making development even easier.

• You have excellent communication skills . You regularly work with engineers and other stakeholders from various disciplines, balancing engineering concerns, such as technical debt, with product concerns. Ideally, you find solutions that address both the team and user needs, but if not, help build understanding around difficult decisions.

• You have experience with experimentation . Utilizing experiments to drive continuous improvements. These include a combination of bold changes and smaller improvements. You understand how to optimize for rapid experimentation and follow-up iteration.

• You have a service/platform mindset. You understand that shipping new functionality in this space involves collaborating with stakeholders to understand requirements, and building functionality in such a way that it can be reused across multiple product verticals.

Things You'll Do

• Lead a distributed team of engineers responsible for Zapier apps and AI apps owned by Zapier.

• Communicate and coordinate with members in different time zones. The team members are located in EST and EU, and theres a strong culture of asynchronous organization, but we share at least 1 hour to sync when it's required.

• Work closely with your engineering function, peer design function, and product function to create a trio that tackles user problems and solutions.

• Collaborate on strategy with others automating the creation/expansion/maintenance of integrations with AI, maintaining the quality of the integrations (fix bugs and implement new features), and ideating with the platform teams to enable others

• Develop effective ways to communicate, monitor, and lead your team through weekly one-on-ones and team meetings.

• Keep the leadership team informed on your teams progress in ways that are easy and enjoyable to receive, like one-on-ones, update posts, and regular team hangouts.

• Build rapport with each member of the Engineering Team and support them through coaching and mentorship to help level up their skills.

• Drive continuous improvement through sprint retros, process improvements, and removal of technical blockers.

• Ensure your team defines and executes technical solutions in alignment with Zapier security requirements, architectural guidelines, system design principles, and engineering best practices.

• Collaborate across various disciplines (Product Managers, Designers, Researchers) to help set quarterly roadmaps that will achieve business goals through engineering best practices.

• Actively recruit, onboard, and train new engineers at Zapier. This might involve tweaking the skills portions of interviews or writing better documentation.

• Keep in touch with customer needs by reviewing or participating in customer interviews, design reviews, sales calls, and user testing sessions.

• Be tenacious about the quality of our product and set up principles and practices that make sure we deliver highly polished experiences for our enterprise customers.
