Job Description and Duties

Do you have a passion for helping?  Are you a Veteran (as defined in Title 38, United States Code, Section 4101) that wants to help Veterans get back into the workforce? Can you translate military jargon to civilian terms?  We are seeking a dedicated Veteran to provide individualized career and training related services to Veterans and eligible persons with significant barriers to employment through case management processes.  You would promote the Employment Development Department (EDD), Jobs for Veterans State Grant (JVSG) and Workforce Services (WS) programs by providing employment services with the maximum emphasis directed toward serving Veterans who are economically or educationally disadvantaged.  

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change as business needs arise.

EDD employees will be required to report to their headquarters office on their assigned in-office days.  Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.

All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Specific telework arrangements may be discussed in more detail with the respective hiring manager. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the EDD’s policies.

Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) per month. Working Conditions

Visa Sponsorship

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment.

In state travel - May be required to travel for training or to work at other Northern California locations.

Be willing to work IN PERSON between the hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, although work days within each location may vary. Telework may be available depending on business needs.

Statement of Qualifications Requirements

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is Required. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing.  The SOQ is not a resume or cover letter. Resumes and/or Cover Letters DO NOT take the place of the SOQ.

To be considered for the position, applicants must submit an SOQ along with their application. The SOQ is a narrative discussion of how your education, training, experience, and skills qualifies you for the position. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. SOQs must have both first and last name and be no more than two (2) pages in length. The SOQ must specifically address the following questions in the order listed below and each response must be numbered to clearly indicate which question you are responding to:
SOQ QUESTIONS:
1. Provide specific examples that demonstrates your experience being part of a team and how you participated in the team.
2. Describe your transferable or relevant skills you obtained in the military as it relates to the position advertisement.
3. This role requires strong time management, organizational abilities, and conflict resolution skills. Can you describe your experiences demonstrating these skills and provide specific examples from your past work.
4. Describe examples of a time you assessed an individuals needs and how you addressed and met those needs.
