We are seeking for a Full-time Health Information Management File Clerk to join our growing hospital. The HIM File Clerk is responsible for the filing and retrieval functions of the Health Information Management Department. Duties relate to filing of loose reports received from various departments throughout the hospital, filing of physician transcription copies and filing and retrieval of charts for committees, the PRO, Illinois Public Aid Review, physicians, etc. Assembles and prepares medical records into a pre-determined order. Must be adept at both alphabetical and numerical filing.to complete the timely and accurate entry of confidential patient information. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, can execute proper judgement in a fast-paced environment.

The responsibilities of the Health Information Management File Clerk include, but are not limited to:

• Files and scans all transcription reports into the medical record.
• Assists physicians in the location and completion of their deficient records with printing of lists from Meditech system.
• Retrieves charts for correspondence requests.
• Completes discharge summaries for 3-East discharges.
• Checks off picked up records on admission, discharge, transfer (ADT) list and accounts for missing records. Notifies supervisor of missing records.
• Delivers previous admission records upon patient readmission to the proper nursing unit when requested.
• Assembles all records of discharged patients into a pre-determined order as outlined in the assembly procedure. Scans all document into Meditech.

Qualifications:

• H. S. diploma or equivalent
• Previous medical records experience required
• Alphabetical and numerical filing required; terminal digit filing desired; good communication skills required; typing 40 wpm, CRT skills desired
• Strong customer service and organizational skills required
• Experience on the Meditech system or similar software preferred
