Professional Land Surveyor - PLS
Webuild Staffing () is seeking an experienced Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensed in the State of California to lead and manage land surveying services for a diverse portfolio of land development projects throughout the San Diego marketplace.
Key Responsibilities
In this leadership role, you will manage a portfolio of land surveying projects from initial client engagement through final deliverables. Responsibilities include overseeing boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, subdivision and parcel maps, easements, construction staking, and as-built documentation for land development projects. You will coordinate and schedule field crews, review and analyze field data, prepare and certify survey maps and legal descriptions, and ensure all work complies with California statutes, local agency requirements, and professional standards.
You will work closely with clients, developers, engineers, architects, and public agencies, serving as the primary point of contact for surveying-related matters. Additional responsibilities include defining project scopes, managing budgets and schedules, supporting proposal development, resolving technical challenges, and maintaining quality control across all survey deliverables. You will also mentor junior surveyors and technical staff, helping to develop internal capabilities and support the long-term growth of the surveying practice.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline and hold an active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the State of California. Candidates should bring 8+ years of progressive experience in land surveying, with a strong emphasis on land development projects in Southern California. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating field crews, and interfacing directly with clients and regulatory agencies is essential.
Strong technical proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, survey data processing software, and modern surveying technologies is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills, along with the ability to independently manage workloads and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Why This Opportunity is Compelling
This role is ideal for a surveying professional with strong technical expertise, proven project management capability, and the ability to serve as a trusted client-facing leader. The selected candidate will oversee both office and field operations, ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of survey services supporting residential, commercial, mixed-use, and infrastructure development projects across the region.
This is an exceptional opportunity to join a well-established surveying and engineering organization with a strong presence in the San Diego development market. The role offers long-term stability, competitive compensation, and the opportunity to take a leadership position on land development projects that shape the region’s communities and contribute to the continued growth and success of the surveying practice group.
Confidential Application Process
Qualified Professional Land Surveyors are encouraged to submit their applications confidentially. All inquiries and candidate information will be handled with the strictest discretion.
