DTC Sales Manager

We are seeking a dynamic DTC Sales Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in driving sales growth and enhancing customer relationships. The DTC Sales Manager will conducting sales analysis, prepare and implementing sales strategies, hire, train, supervise, and mentor team members, and promote the sale of wine and wine club membership.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Sales & Customer Service

  • Supervises and coaches team members to ensure that they are properly trained on standards, policies, and procedures;
  • Communicates and monitors sales incentive program and ensures the winery meets or exceeds sales and wine club sign-up goals;
  • Leads daily staff meetings before tasting room opens to go over the daily schedule and keeps staff up to date on procedures, sales goals, event updates and other pertinent information to aid sales and improve efficiency;
  • Leads monthly staff meetings that includes education about wine, terroir, and the winemaking process;
  • Ensures that all shipping orders are accurately packed and processed in a timely manner;
  • Helps execute monthly physical inventory for wine and oversees inventory counts and allocations;
  • Ensures that all visitors are greeted immediately when they enter the tasting room and are provided with an experience that creates brand loyalty;
  • Fully supports the Company's policies and procedures and commitment to the established safety practices and policies;
  • Generates monthly and annual club member reports including growth/retention report and highest grossing buyers;
  • Writes content for club newsletters as directed by needs identified in sales data;
  • Works to develop and implement sales strategies and campaigns to ensure achievement of sales objectives.

Management/Leadership

  • Hire, leads, develops, coaches and trains team members how to achieve sales goals and increase customer loyalty;
  • Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and enthusiastic employee relations among the all staff;
  • Works closely with Human Resources regarding any employee relations issues, including performance management and disciplinary action;
  • Appraises performance, rewarding and taking disciplinary action when appropriate; addresses complaints and resolves problems.

Analysis and Reporting

  • Oversees the completion of monthly/quarterly inventory and depletion reports and monthly/quarterly sales reports including Gross/Net profit on wines;
  • Summarizes all monthly/quarterly email campaign earnings and presents to CFO, Marketing and Winemaker upon request;
  • Uses monthly/quarterly reports to provide direction for winery operations, event planning and winemaking;
  • Utilizes sales data to identify and promote most effective seasonal timelines to market each wine.

Club and Brand Management

  • Oversees monthly and annual club member reports including growth/retention report and highest grossing buyers;
  • Evaluates opportunities for new club events, marketing opportunities and campaigns;
  • Oversees the completion of all forms and submissions for initiatives and allocates wine for competitions;
  • Attends onsite and offsite events;
  • Responds to all customer complaints and monitors online customer forums.

Events

  • Plans all winery events including, but not limited to: set-up, break down, staffing, fulfillment, and other logistical activities;
  • Attends all events and actively encourages sales;
  • Provides report to CFO, Director of Consumer Sales, and winemaker after the event in order to determine the level of success achieved.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 21 years of age;
  • Proven experience as a DTC Sales Manager or similar role in the wine industry with successful track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets ;
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a sales team;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and guest service skills;
  • Current Responsible Beverage and Safe Food Handler Certification;
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills;
  • Able to deftly resolve customer concerns and complaints;
  • Able and available to work weekends, evenings, events, and occasional holidays;
  • Possess a high level of branding and operational tasting room expertise;
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class C driver's license;
  • Must have a reliable, insured method of transportation and an insurable driving record;
  • Self-directed, motivated, and able to work with little direction or supervision;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to work in a calm and effective manner with changing priorities and pressure;
  • Excellent analytical and project management skills;
  • Successful experience supervising, coaching, developing, and managing staff;
  • Able to create effective sales strategy and budgets.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of successful experience in the same or similar position within the wine industry.

Language Skills:

Fluent in the English language (speak, read, write, type) required. Multi-lingual preferred. Able to communicate in a professional and effective manner at all times in both oral and written formats. Ability to effectively respond to inquiries, comments, or complaints from internal or external customers.

Computer Skills:

Proficient with point-of-sale, shipping, VinNow, and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak, listen, hear, see, smell, taste, squat, read, write, type, sit, stand, and walk. Must also be able to use arms, hands fingers to reach, grasp, lift, push, pull, carry, open/close, as well as perform other job-related tasks. Must be able to operate standard office equipment and lift/carry/move 50 lbs. on a regular basis. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders. Occasionally may need to kneel or crouch. Must be able to drive to other company locations, run errands, and attend special events.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The environment will differ depending upon the work location. This position requires the ability to travel to other Company locations and special events. The noise level in the work environment is generally low to moderate. Noise levels generally rise during special events.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
