Information Technology Specialist I

Job Description and Duties

The Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) will need to be able to: perform configuration programming of switch and routing environments; provide support in wireless technology, voice over Internet Protocol technology;u nderstand network circuit plans; have a broad knowledge and understanding of networking fundamentals in troubleshooting and research; and resolve problems on network equipment, both hardware and software and work directly with users, vendors, and consultants.

The ITS I is expected to interact in all things networking for the Department. The ITS I will need to be able to: provide support in enterprise network architectures, network monitoring and management systems, troubleshooting techniques, video conferencing environment, and routing/switching protocols; and install and maintain network equipment and software in all CHP locations, including routers, switches, wireless access points, power distribution units, network cables, and other network-related devices.

Working Conditions

Required to lift, push, or pull objects. Some tasks will require periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, or squatting while performing duties and/or may require climbing ladders or stairs. Some travel and after hours will be required.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to appointment.
