Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

- Facility: Academic Level I Trauma Center
- Assignment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Nursing Contract)
- Unit: Cardiac Stepdown (Acute Med/Prog Care D6/5)
- Start Date: September 8, 2025
- End Date: December 8, 2025
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00pm – 7:30am), Monday through Friday, every other weekend, some holidays required
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratios: General Care 1:4, IMC 1:2
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2200 - $2260
- Active Wisconsin or compact state RN license (required at submission)
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in Cardiac Stepdown, Progressive Care, or Telemetry nursing (within last 3 years)
- Experience in an Academic Level I or II trauma center or large hospital setting
- Prior travel nursing experience (required)
- BLS (American Heart Association) and ACLS certifications
- EPIC charting experience (within last 12 months preferred)
- Competency in basic arrhythmia and telemetry (must pass telemetry exam before start)
- Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility (per travel nurse guidelines)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with cardiac conditions, multiple comorbidities, and hemodynamic instability
- Monitor and manage cardiac stepdown and telemetry patients, including arrhythmia interpretation and rapid response
- Administer medications, titrate cardiac drips, and care for ventilated and post-transplant patients
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response)
- Float to other nursing units as needed to support hospital staffing
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation using EPIC electronic health records
- Participate in orientation and ongoing competency assessments, including telemetry testing
- Educate and support patients and their families throughout the care process
