Senior Software Engineer

Location: California: Hayward, Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego
Pay Range: $130,000- 150,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
Position Summary
The Senior Software Engineer oversees the development, maintenance, and optimization of the Company’s proprietary operational and reporting software systems. This role is both hands-on and strategic—responsible for defining technical direction, establishing governance and standards, and leading a small team of developers focused on delivering reliable and scalable software solutions.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical proficiency with leadership experience in software engineering and IT operations, particularly within a distribution or manufacturing environment.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Define and implement the Company’s technical strategy for software applications, architecture, and development processes.
- Collaborate with management and end users to assess business requirements and establish development priorities and roadmaps.
- Oversee the full software development life cycle (SDLC)—from design through deployment—using Agile or Scrum methodologies.
- Lead and mentor development staff, including coding, QA, and production support functions.
- Develop and maintain systems for internal and external use, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.
- Establish and enforce development standards, documentation practices, and coding guidelines.
- Manage system support, including incident reporting, resolution, and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with business units to design and maintain reports and dashboards; ensure data integrity and performance optimization.
- Maintain and integrate data across proprietary and third-party systems via APIs and SQL databases.
- Participate in hands-on coding, performance tuning, and system enhancements as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, IT governance, and applicable data security regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of overall software development experience, including 3+ years in a management or team lead role.
- Demonstrated experience managing software teams and offshore development resources.
- Strong project management and change management experience.
- Experience within the distribution, logistics, or manufacturing industries preferred.
- Hands-on experience with system integration, data migration, and API development.
- Familiarity with database design, logical/physical modeling, and SQL query optimization.
- Proficiency in LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) and AngularJS .
- Experience with LAMP-oriented frameworks, Git source control, and open-source libraries.
- Strong SQL skills including stored procedures, functions, and views.
- Familiarity with reporting systems and data integration practices.
- Experience using AI development tools (e.g., Cursor) is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard productivity tools.
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record (if travel required).
- Ability to travel occasionally for business purposes.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure and meet deadlines.
