Sales Manager - Chemical Industry
Raw material chemical supplier is looking to fill a Sales Manager position in the Los Angeles, CA area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a very successful organization focused on selling raw material commodity & specialty chemicals to a general industrial manufacturing market. Some of the key markets are Paint & Coatings, Metal Finishing, HI&I (household, institutional and industrial cleaners) Compounding, Personal Care, General Manufacturing, and Water Treatment. This position will be responsible for leading and managing a team of sales professionals. This is an exciting, fast-paced, and challenging position. It's a solid income and career growth opportunity as well. Overnight travel is estimated at 25%.
Responsibilities: Successfully manage and lead a team of sales professionals responsible for a territory covering the Western Region of the USA (13 states). The team will be selling a broad range of commodity & specialty chemicals to a general industrial manufacturing market. The business requires selling mainly on a commercial level to production and purchasing personnel. Each salesperson manages an existing territory, prospects for and develops new opportunities at existing accounts, as well as develops new accounts. Manage district pricing, trouble shooting, new product introductions, etc. Communicate effectively with management, suppliers, and customers. Develop the sales team strategy for the territory. Effectively address any sales performance issues. Hire as needed, and sales training as needed.
Requirements: 8+ years of sales experience in the chemical industry, with at least 3 of these years in sales team management. A strong track record of sales management & team leadership success. High energy with the capacity to handle a large volume of activity. A college degree is required, but the concentration is open. An MBA is a plus. Experience selling a broad product line is a plus. Must be very professional, self-motivated, and have the ability to manage many activities, products, accounts, pricing, etc.
Compensation: Base salary: $150,000 - $200,000 (commensurate with experience). Plus, bonus: 20% of base salary per year is the target. Company car allowance. Excellent company benefits.
