Veterinary Assistant (Portola Valley)
In this role, you will:
- Support surgical and dental procedures from preparation through recovery, assisting with anesthesia, patient monitoring, and ensuring a smooth, efficient workflow
- Manage treatment and exam room flow by preparing patients and equipment, gathering histories, obtaining TPRs, and anticipating the needs of the veterinary team
- Independently carry out key clinical tasks such as venipuncture, radiology, laboratory sample collection and processing, and administering medications as directed
- Maintain accurate medical records and serve as a key point of communication for clients, providing education, reviewing treatment plans, and delivering clear discharge instructions
This position is ideal for a Veterinary Assistant who is confident in their technical skills, takes initiative, and enjoys playing a central role in both patient care and the overall flow of the hospital. Schedule:
This is a full-time position with a 5/8 schedule scheduled Monday through Friday, with no late nights and no weekends! Full-time benefits and compensation**:
- Compensation: $28-34 per hour, for each hour worked*
- Bonus package: $500 for those with 3+ years of consecutive, current experience

- 5+ years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting
- Proficiency in the following skills:
- Venipuncture and placing IV catheters
- Administering injections
- Surgical prep and assistance
- Anesthetic monitoring
