Job Description and Duties

Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit R01 , and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by three percent and will receive five PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.

Analyst I

Under the supervision of the Examination and Certification Services Section (ECSS) Supervisor (Supervisor I), the Analyst I performs the less complex analytical and technical work for the ECSS in the Employment and Outreach Unit. The Analyst I provides innovative examination development, assembly, and administration services and functions as the primary exam analyst responsible for the creation, maintenance, administration, and continual evaluation of California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) exams. Additionally, the Analyst develops and validates department wide examinations for correctional institutions/facilities as needed and provides examination consultation and technical assistance, policy guidance, and interpretation of the State Personnel Board selection laws, rules, and regulations; provides examination information; and responds to questions from CCHCS Regional Personnel Offices and CCHCS Liaisons staff, State employees, candidates seeking State employment, and the general public. The Analyst I performs varied and less complex analytical staff services related to minimum qualifications review, providing resolution to less complex MQs and exams issues.

Analyst II

Under the direction of the Examination and Certification Services Section (ECSS) Supervisor (Supervisor I), the Analyst II performs the most complex analytical and technical work for the Examination and Certification Services Section in the Employment and Outreach Unit. The Analyst provides innovative examination development, assembly, and administration services and functions as the primary exam analyst responsible for the creation, maintenance, administration, and continual evaluation of California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) exams. Additionally, the Analyst develops and validates department wide examinations for correctional institutions/facilities as needed and provides examination consultation and technical assistance, policy guidance, and interpretation of the State Personnel Board selection laws, rules, and regulations; provides examination information; and responds to questions from CCHCS Regional Personnel Offices and CCHCS Liaisons staff, State employees, candidates seeking State employment, and the general public. The Analyst performs varied and complex analytical staff services related to minimum qualifications review, providing resolution to the most difficult MQs and exams issues; acts independently and without detailed supervision; and acts as lead person to other staff in the Unit.
