Assistant Show Jumping Trainer

Pomponio Ranch (North) is seeking an Assistant Show Jumping Trainer to join our team. This role focuses on collaborating with our training staff to develop and ride young horses in the discipline of show jumping.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Riding and exercising young horses in the discipline of show jumping
• Assist in rehabbing horses returning to work from injury
• Lunge horses as part of training and exercise programs
• Set jumps and adjust jump courses for training sessions
• Maintain the fitness and well-being of all horses through regular riding, exercise, and fitness programs.
• Groom and care:
  • Bandaging minor wounds
  • Proficient in wrapping both for exercise & standing wraps
  • Proficient in turning out horses and using a hot walker
  • Assist with therapeutic treatments (ice, thumper, FES, laser, etc.)
  • Prepare grain and supplements as directed
• Ensure barns, grooming, and tacking areas are kept clean, organized, and presentable
• Provides assistance to the Barn Manager with weekly task coordination and computer-based updates.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Strong riding background in show jumping or eventing disciplines
• 1.20m or higher jumping experience
• Experience working with young, green, or rehabilitating horses
• Excellent horsemanship and attention to detail
• Proficient in Google workspace
• Knowledge of safe work practices around horses with experience observing and reporting equine health and behavior.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be 18 years or older and authorized to work in the United States.
• Physical requirements: ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, lift 80-100 lbs, and perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and climbing.
• Strong commitment to teamwork, flexibility, and adhering to ranch policies and procedures.
