Job Description and Duties

The California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) is seeking a Supervisor I in the Business Services Section. In this role, you will manage the operations, staff, and workflow of the Business Services Section, full-scope supervision including planning, organizing, and directing the work of staff. You will also serve as the program lead for procurement, contracts, facilities, building security, records and asset management, and mailroom operations.

Working Conditions

This position is presently headquartered at 11120 International Drive, Suite 100, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670. This position may also be expected to report to the Downtown Sacramento location at 1102 Q Street, Sacramento, CA 95811.

  • Exposure to computer screens and other basic office equipment.
  • Work in a climate-controlled office environment, open office space with artifical lighting.
  • Attend meetings in designated conference rooms and be willing to travel to off-site locations.
  • Current residency in the State of California is required. This position may be eligible for hybrid teleworking. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on CSAC’s current telework policy. While CSAC supports telework, regular in-person attendance will be required at CSAC’s Rancho Cordova location based on operational needs. Teleworking from outside the State of California is strictly prohibited.

Special Requirements

Candidates are required to submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ). The SOQ is a narrative discussion of how the candidates' education, training, experience, and/or skills qualify them for the position. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidates' ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. Resumes and/or cover letters do not take the place of the SOQ.

Instructions: The SOQ must be typed in 12-point Arial font, single spaced, with one-inch margins, and must be a minimum of one (1) page, not to exceed two (2) pages in length; and clearly titled "Statement of Qualifications". Responses must answer/respond to, and be numbered in the same order as the following:
  1. Provide a detailed example of your experience with contracting, procurement processes. Explain your role, how you ensured compliance with policies or regulations, and how you managed timelines, documentation, or stakeholder communication throughout the process.
  2. Describe a situation where you analyzed a challenging operational or administrative issue and developed a solution. Explain the steps you took, how you collaborated with others, and the impact of your solution on workflow, compliance, or organizational efficiency.
  3. Describe your experience supervising or leading a team. Include examples of how you have supported performance or improved team processes. Highlight how you build effective working relationships and promote a positive and productive team environment.
Applications received without an SOQ, following these instructions, will be rejected and disqualified from the hiring process.

  • Knowledge and experience with Fi$Cal as it pertains to Business Services functions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organization, and supervisory skills to manage multiple priorities and maintain smooth daily operations.
