Summary
The Manager, Hardware Design Engineering manages cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations. Provide support throughout the manufacturing process of the electrical/mechanical system that they have designed.
The Manager, Hardware Design Engineering is responsible for leading and managing the work of developing new electrical systems/circuits for various applications. Research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, and capture them in schematics and system specifications. Test, simulate, validate and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects, involving multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling. .
- Take responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.).
- Review and interpret customer requirements/specifications and may act as primary customer contract.
- Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develops deployment strategies and plans.
- Lead the deployment of strategic complex programs and coordinate site-wide deployment efforts.
- Creation of Schematics, Bills of material, diagrams, drawings, etc.
- Analyzing and interpreting data and information
- Creating reports and documentation
- May manage relationships with key vendors/partners.
- Research systems ideas and will draw up plans for these systems
- Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs.
- Create designs in line with Celesticas procedures, regulations and customer standards
- Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations
- Solve complex problems
- Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.
- Recommend system modifications
- Set yearly plans and goals for the department, give direction on expected performance, provide regular performance evaluations and ongoing feedback. Accountable for all department objectives and achieving agreed targets for key performance indicators.
Physical Demands
- Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
- Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Typical Experience
- 7+ years of related experience; Experience in similar job roles
Typical Education
Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The salary range described in this posting is an estimate by the Company, and may change based on several factors, including by not limited to a change in the duties covered by the job posting, or the credentials, experience or geographic jurisdiction of the successful candidate. $150,000-205,000 USD/year
