Workers’ Compensation Consultant
Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Supervising Workers' Compensation Consultant (SWCC), the Workers' Compensation Consultant is responsible for the case management of their files.
The Subsequent Injuries Benefits Trust Fund (SIBTF) is growing and we are developing a claims team geared towards strategic planning with case management efficiency as a focus. We are interactive in the employee participation of how that happens. Our SIBTF team consists of claims professionals that are driven to succeed in the fast moving, and growing, program that we work in.

Working Conditions
This position is located at: Sacramento SIBTF, 1750 Howe Avenue, Suite 370, Sacramento, CA 95825-3367.
The incumbent will work in an air conditioned high-rise building with elevator access as well as natural and artificial lighting. The incumbent will be expected to work 40 hours per week in an office setting equipped with standard office equipment
Our building is located in Sacramento, at Howe and Arden Way and we offer free parking.
• We are near several shopping centers and dining.
• There is a small free gym in the lobby of our building.

1. Describe how you qualify to perform the essential functions as the Workers' Compensation Consultant?
2. Describe any knowledge you have of settlements, apportionment, medical records review, and providing benefits.
3. Briefly describe your customer service experience.
Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Knowledge of: Principles, practices, and procedures of the California Workers' Compensation System and Appeals Board; Laws and rules of Labor Code, California Administrative Code, and leading court decisions relating to workers' compensation coverage, insurance, enforcement, rights and benefits, settlements, apportionment, rules of practice, interpretation, and application of the schedule of ratings to permanent disabilities; vocational rehabilitation; general accounting; medical and anatomical terminology.
Negotiating and applying apportionment and credit information to analysis of cases. Excellent writing and verbal skills to prepare comprehensive reports and summaries. Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel).
Analytical skills.
Ability to: Interpret, analyze, and summarize medial reports, fact situations, and workers' compensation laws and rules; identify prior Awards, apportionment, and credits in order to determine the value of the case; investigate, mediate, and identify disputed issues; prepare analysis of case value to present to defense legal staff and supervisor; communicate effectively; provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders; settle cases efficiently and appropriately.

Preference will be given to persons with State Restriction of Appointments (SROA) or Surplus status. Applicants must attach a copy of their most recently dated letter that specifies their designation as either SROA or surplus candidate as proof.
Qualified candidates must have eligibility in State employment, be in a reachable rank on an employment list for this classification, be currently in this classification, or have transfer eligibility to this classification.
