JOB TITLE: Forklift Driver - Production
DEPARTMENT: Production
FLSA: hourly-paid, non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor and/or Department Manager

Shifts available 5:00am-1:30pm

OBJECTIVE: Responsible for the safe operation of a forklift to move paper products to and from storage and machines in the production area.

Essential Functions
A) Responsible for the safe operation of a forklift to move paper products to and from storage and machines in the production area.
B) Must respond timely to operators needs for raw materials and removal of finished goods
C) Reports hazards, defective materials and equipment problems to management
D) Accurately complete required paperwork
E) Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition, free from hazards
F) Follows all safety rules
G) Requires the ability to sit to drive a forklift, including backwards, and stand and walk for a minimum 8-hour shift; work overtime, swing or night shift and weekends
H) Requires the ability to constantly lift, carry, push and pull 30 pounds
I) Requires gas/ propane gas tanks changed and connect and disconnect batteries

Other Duties
A) Occasionally may be required to lift, carry, push and pull up to 30 pounds
B) Participate in special projects as required

Reporting Relationship
A) Reports to the Production Supervisor or Manager

Minimum Qualifications
A) High School Diploma or equivalent
B) Ability to learn all aspects of safe forklift driving and material handling
C) Ability to learn and perform all essential functions and other duties, with or without reasonable accommodation
D) Must be able to understand verbal and written directions and training
E) Must be able to accurately complete required paperwork
F) Requires the ability to sit to drive a forklift, including backwards, and stand and walk for a minimum 8-hour shift
G) Must be able to continuously lift, carry, push, pull a minimum of 30 pounds
H) Ability to work well with people at all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications
A) Prior experience as a forklift operator
B) Prior experience working in manufacturing
C) Prior experience in paper manufacturing
D) Bi-lingual English-Spanish

J) Reports defective materials and equipment problems to management
C) Accurately complete required paperwork
D) Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition, free from hazards
E) Follows all safety rules
F) Perform routine janitorial and deep cleaning
G) At all times keep work area clean and organized
H) Participate in special projects as required
I) Be flexible responding to changing customer and production scheduling needs.
J) At all times behave in a professional and courteous manner
K) Other duties as assigned

Physical Environment/Working Conditions
This position is in the factory, where temperature fluctuations occur throughout the year and where employees must use eye and hearing protection and be cautious around equipment and forklifts.
