Job Description

Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Sr. Data Engineer (multiple openings) in Foster City, CA to:

• Work on Platform-as-a-Service offerings that are easy to consume, scalable, secure, and reliable using open-source based solutions for Big Data technologies and container orchestration platform such as Kubernetes.
• Build, configure, deploy, and operate Kubernetes cluster components and containerized applications.
• Enhance, build, deploy, and manage Open-Source Kubernetes for Visa’s internal use cases.
• Ensure high availability of Kubernetes infrastructure, cluster, persistence, networking etc.
• Design and implement CRDs for agility and operational excellence.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy high performance code to production.
• Work with the leads, architects, product and project managers to understand the requirements and implement features.
• Identify, analyze, and fix bugs in the software; write test code to ensure that the fixes made have fixed the bugs identified.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues with data platform services in production and non- production environment.
• Maintain documentation for the platform.
• Position reports to the Foster City, CA office and may allow for partial telecommuting.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.

Position requires experience in the following skills through academic coursework and/or work experience:

• Golang, Java, Scala, C++, or Python.
• Container orchestration techniques: Kubernetes, Docker, and Container.
• Understanding of Linux system for troubleshooting system issues and network interfaces.
• Data structures and algorithms.
• Relational, non-relational, or NoSQL Databases.
• CICD: Jenkins, and ArgoCD.
• Cluster observation: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and OpenTelemetry
• Automation: Ansible.
• File system management: GPFS, NFS, and local caches.

Additional Information

Worksite: Foster City, CA

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Travel Requirements: This position does not require travel.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $129,400.00 USD to $200,500.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
