Time Commitment:
Ongoing throughout the school year. Must attend PA meeting and voting meetings. Voting Member/One-Year Term/Must Attend All Monthly PA Meetings.

School Historian:

Makes photos available to the parent body via a designated website. Compiles PA photos throughout the year and assists in the PA Thank You Event slideshow in the spring.

Time Commitment:
Extensive and timely. When not on campus, work can be done at home. Voting Member/One-Year Term/Must Attend All Monthly PA Meetings.

New Family Ambassador Committee:
This committee reports to the 2nd VP and works together with the administration to welcome and offer support to incoming families through their first year at Curtis. Communication with incoming families will begin in April upon their admission to Curtis. Each committee member will be assigned as a Buddy, responsible for multiple families. The expectation is to welcome the new families, communicate about important dates (back to school, curriculum meeting, PA meetings, etc.), help acclimate to the community, and explain room parent communications when necessary. This committee is ideal for someone who is interested in helping facilitate a smooth and welcoming transition for our new families. If you are also interested in the 2nd VP position, this is a great place to start.

Time Commitment:
The position begins in late spring, once new families are notified of acceptance. It requires a significant time commitment, with most of the work taking place in the fall and continuing throughout the school year. Quarterly committee meetings are standard.

Please contact the 2nd VP with any questions about the role.

Fair Chairs:
This committee of three to five Chairs has the amazing and important job of coordinating all the details for the beloved annual Curtis Fair! Every year, Fair Chairs bring the Curtis Fair to life (usually starting in January of the previous school year) by selecting a fair theme (Admin approval required), concepting and designing a logo, and designing and sourcing Fair merchandise. They continue to hit the ground running when they join the Fundraising Committee in January of the previous school year and participate in transition meetings with the prior year’s Fair Chairs. Fair Chairs are voting members of the Fundraising Committee, which meets once a month, and are voting members of the PA. Right after Spring Break, the Fair Chair Team, under the guidance of the 3rd VP and PA President, conducts the selection of Fair Committees from the Spring Self-Nominations. This job requires an understanding of budgets, the ability to manage and oversee numerous committees, effective time management, and, ultimately, event coordination. This Fair team is responsible for overseeing, creating, producing, and fulfilling fair merchandise, alongside the 3rd VP and the PA President, with the assistance of the Merchandise Committee. Should Fair be postponed or canceled, this committee would potentially shift to a Spirit Committee. Above all, it is an amazing opportunity to give back to Curtis School in a fun and memorable way and get to know everyone in the Curtis community!

Time Commitment:
Preliminary work typically begins in January of the prior school year, with merchandise sales launching in late spring. There is significant work over the summer, but the heaviest time commitment and majority of responsibilities occur in September and early October, leading up to the Fair and continuing through the weekend of the event. This role requires on-campus availability, and weekly meetings may begin as early as three months before the event.

This committee also serves on the fundraising committee for the school year, from the time of appointment until the new Fair team is appointed the following January after the Fair.

Please contact the 3rd VP with any questions about the role.

Curtis Celebrates! Chairs:
This group of four to five Chairs will be responsible for the PA’s largest fundraiser of the year. Help plan this “adults only” fundraiser with a silent and live auction held in early March for our entire parent body, faculty, and staff. This committee will officially start planning this fun-filled evening in early March of the previous school year. Curtis Celebrates! Chairs are voting members of the Fundraising Committee, which meets once a month, and are voting members of the PA. They join the Fundraising committee in early Spring of the previous school year to transition with the prior year’s Chairs. The first order of business will be to clear a date, understand the budget, set fundraising goals and strategy for the silent and live auctions, choose the location, food, drink, entertainment, auctioneer, and theme. Chairs will design and send out the invitation and manage RSVP’s. With the guidance of the 3rd VP and PA President, the Chairs will also be responsible for building subcommittees of additional parents to help secure auction items, edit the catalog, or fill any other additional positions that are needed for the event. Please note that there is a generous but firm budget set for the party and the auction needs. Budget management is imperative.

Time Commitment:
Preliminary work usually begins in February of the prior school year with venue discussions. Once a venue is selected, the majority of the work takes place once school is back in session and the auction plan is developed.

This committee also serves on the fundraising committee for the school year, from the time of appointment until the new Curtis Celebrates! team is appointed the following spring.

Please contact the 3rd VP with any questions about the role.
