Manufacturing Engineer, Roadster
Tesla is looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to the concept development and launch of battery manufacturing equipment for our cutting-edge Roadster vehicle. In this role you will take large scale manufacturing systems for new battery products and architectures from the early concept development stage through equipment launch, optimization and handover to local operations teams. Battery development is at the heart of our company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges for the all-new Roadster product architecture while still in its early development stages. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects. This role requires traveling domestically and internationally to help support equipment FATs and across Tesla sites as needed (<50% travel expected) What You'll Do Ideate concepts for equipment and manufacturing system(s)Develop specifications and manage RFQ processValidate and optimize processes from early prototype builds through full volume productionTransition products from low-volume prototypes to large-scale productionIdentify root causes of production bottlenecks, equipment malfunctions, and variability, using first principles thinking to drive sustainable solutionsUse manufacturing data to inform decisions, track progress, and identify areas for improvement in real-timeCreate detailed documentation for equipment handover to operations team What You'll Bring 3+ years of engineering or equivalent relevant experienceExperience deploying, qualifying and validating new processes in a highly automated production environmentProficiency in geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) and experimental designDesign of mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling in CAD (SolidWorks preferred)Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret production data and solve technical challenges using first principlesProficiency in the development and launch of manufacturing linesDegree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience Benefits
