The Homeless Division Medical Director provides professional supervision over Homeless services corporate wide, including oversight of the quality of medical care delivered, recruitment and retention, planning and evaluation of services, and for providing medical expertise to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Adult Medical Director, management team, and the Board of Directors.
The Homeless Division Medical Director works closely with the Homeless Division Director, Adult Medical Director, the CMO, COO and other key staff to assure that all program and regulatory guidelines are met.
In collaboration with other key staff, the Homeless Division Medical Director will assist the Homeless Division Director with the development and oversight of clinical and other programs to effectively serve the unhoused population with an emphasis on those patients served at the Transitions To Wellness Health Centers and street medicine outreach programs.
REPORTS TO: Chief Medical Officer (CMO)
Qualifications:
1. Graduate of an approved:
a. Medical school with a Doctor of Medicine Degree ORb. Nursing school with a Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner Degree OR
c. Physician assistant school with a Master of Physician Assistant Practice Degree
2. Current license to practice medicine in the State of California.
3. Board Certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine is preferred.
4. Experience in health care administration in a primary care setting; strong interpersonal and organizational skills may be substituted at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer.
5. Must demonstrate through written and/or oral testing, the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and has knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Is able to identify and categorize each patient’s age specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, adolescent, or geriatric patients.
6. A working knowledge of adult medicine.
7. Thorough working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and contemporary general office practices and procedures.
8. Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and others.
9. Excellent leadership skills.
10. Demonstrated supervisory skills sufficient to supervise from 1 to 5 employees.
11. Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate with others in a professional and caring manner including sensitivity with individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles. 12.
