Senior/Staff Software Engineer, Robot Link Platform

Zoox’s Bot to Cloud Communication Pipelines team builds the platform that enables cloud services to communicate with Zoox’s fleet of robo-taxis in real-time. This cloud communication platform is crucial for enabling our driverless robo-taxi service. As an engineer on this team, you will help build the microservices required to ensure reliable, mission-critical communication between our robot and our fleet management cloud services.

This is a rare opportunity that will require both your product sense and low-level systems thinking using complex network topologies and protocols.

• Develop new features for our cloud comms platform, primarily with code in TypeScript. You will have some occasional C++ work (but as long as you’re excited to learn C++, we can help you with this!), and networking.
• Debug issues with the platform and find resolutions. This will typically involve investigating observability data, making inferences, and coming up with tests to prove or disprove hypotheses about the problem.
• Engage in architecture discussions on how to advance the platform for the betterment of everyone at Zoox.
• Collaborate with internal customers to understand their needs so that we can be constantly improving the product.

• BS / MS in Computer Science or similar degree and/or 5+ years of relevant experience
• Experience with TypeScript, Flow or JavaScript.
• Experience with Linux, networking, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with backend systems & frameworks such as Node.js and Express.
• Working knowledge of web servers and web technologies.

• Familiarity with DDS.
• Experience with Node.js (TypeScript, Express).
• Experience with C++ for on-bot integration.

Compensation:

There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $195,000 to $245,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
