Travel Sonographer / Ultrasound Tech Sonographer Job
Travel Sonographer / Ultrasound Tech position in San Luis Obispo, California. This eight-week assignment begins on 08/31/2026 with guaranteed 36 hours per week. Shifts are 3 x 12-hour days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM), with mostly Monday, Thursday, and Friday scheduling and rotational on-call/weekend duties. The role is in a short-term acute care hospital setting. Weekly pay ranges from $2,445 to $2,538. Key Highlights

- Perform cardiovascular and non-invasive ultrasound studies, including M-Mode with calculations, 2-D imaging with full views and calculations, and Doppler echo analysis for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
- Obtain, document, and interpret data for age-specific patient needs (pediatric echo or geriatric Doppler exams) and communicate findings to physicians.
- Conduct peripheral vascular studies, including arterial and venous Doppler, segmental pressures, ankle-brachial index, and carotid ultrasound.
- Carry out tilt-table exams, treadmill testing, 24-hour Holter monitoring, and pharmacologic studies as required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cardiovascular techniques and equipment; precept new staff and provide mentorship as needed.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Requirements
- Two years of recent experience as a cardiac ultrasound sonographer and/or completion of a one-year certified cardiac ultrasound course (preferred).
- Two years of experience as a vascular sonographer and/or completion of a certified vascular sonographer course (preferred).
- Two years of experience as a pediatric cardiac sonographer and/or completion of a certified pediatric sonography course (preferred).
- One year of experience as a fetal echocardiography (Fetal ECHO) sonographer and/or completion of a certified fetal echocardiography course (preferred).
- Licenses/Certifications: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Ultrasonographer (RDCS) or equivalent (e.g., CCI-RCS) required; Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or CCI‑RVS required; Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) required; Fetal Echocardiography (FE) preferred; ARDMS-PE or CCI-RCCS required; BLS or equivalent per policy required.
- Proof of current BLS certification from an approved provider.
- Active ability to work in an acute care hospital setting with appropriate licensure and credentials as specified. Benefits and Support
