The Role
Our client is seeking a Director of Operations - Precision Components to step into a pivotal leadership position overseeing several operating divisions within the business.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a seasoned manufacturing leader who has a track record of managing complex, geographically distributed operations. The role is based onsite and involves routine travel across the company's manufacturing locations.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Champion continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives across all manufacturing locations
- Oversee production efficiency, supply chain performance, and process enhancement efforts
- Hold full P&L ownership for designated business units, driving financial results, cost control, and margin growth
- Guarantee adherence to all applicable regulatory standards and industry quality certifications
Strategic Development
- Partner with engineering, sales, and program management teams to drive innovation and accelerate time-to-delivery
- Craft and implement business strategies aligned with broader enterprise goals to fuel long-term, sustainable growth
- Pursue opportunities for expanding into new markets, acquiring new customers, and forming strategic alliances
Team Leadership
- Cultivate a culture rooted in accountability, teamwork, and servant leadership principles
- Champion talent development initiatives, succession planning, and the strengthening of organizational capabilities
- Attract, mentor, and grow high-performing teams spread across multiple facilities
Financial Oversight
- Uphold disciplined financial management, including precise budgeting and forecasting
- Communicate operational outcomes and strategic recommendations to the executive leadership team with confidence and clarity
- Achieve sustained, metrics-driven results against aggressive growth objectives
Requirements
Education:
- An advanced business degree (MBA or similar) is strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required
Industry Background:
- Proven success operating within highly regulated, quality-intensive manufacturing environments
- Significant expertise in precision machining, engineered systems, or component manufacturing
- Prior experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing is required
- Track record of managing multi-site operations with varied product lines
Leadership Background:
- Demonstrated effectiveness in senior operational or general management roles carrying full P&L responsibility
- At least 20 years of progressively senior leadership experience in manufacturing operations
Technical & Commercial Skills:
- Skilled at converting operational data and metrics into actionable strategic insights
- Proficiency in Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement frameworks
- Robust financial acumen and analytical capability paired with a strategic outlook
