Job Description
The Medical Front Desk Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, delivering excellent customer service while supporting the daily administrative operations of the clinic. This role is responsible for managing patient flow, handling scheduling, and ensuring accurate documentation and communication within the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and check in patients in a professional and friendly manner
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments efficiently
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls, responding to inquiries promptly
- Verify patient information, including insurance and demographic details
- Collect co-pays, process payments, and maintain accurate financial records
- Maintain and update electronic medical records (EMR) with accuracy and confidentiality
- Coordinate patient flow to minimize wait times and ensure smooth office operations
- Communicate with medical staff regarding patient needs and scheduling updates
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails, faxes, and mail
- Ensure front desk area is clean, organized, and welcoming
- Assist with administrative tasks and other duties as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional healthcare or administrative training preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in a medical office or customer service environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology and front office procedures preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Professional demeanor and commitment to patient confidentiality
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with office systems
