Manager, Medical Staff Services - Full Time - 1.0 FTE

Salary Range: $125,000 - $188,000 annually

Position Summary: Directs and manages organizational and administrative functions related to the Medical Staff Services Department, including staffing, confidential practitioner database administration, survey preparation/coordination, credentialing, privileging, focused and ongoing professional practice evaluation, committees, GME and CME. Responsible for working with Medical Staff Leadership in planning, developing, and maintaining the support structure necessary for the Medical Staff to carry out its duties and responsibilities pursuant to the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, regulatory requirements, and Hospital policy. Comprehensive expertise and knowledge in Medical Staff related issues. Manages and oversees Medical Staff, collection of dues, financial reports, and payment of stipends for Medical Staff Officers, Department & Committee Chairs. Functions as the liaison for the Medical Staff and legal counsel. In addition to performing the essential functions listed below may also be assigned other duties as required.

Education: Bachelor's Degree, Preferred

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Medical Staff Management, preferably in an acute care hospital setting, Required.

License and Certifications: Possession of a valid certificate as a Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) or Credentials Specialist (CPCS) as issued by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) is strongly preferred.

  • Competent database management skills and reporting-writing capabilities (Credential Stream preferred).

  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and deadline situations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements, including the Federal Conditions of Participation, California Code of Regulations Title 22, California Evidence Code 1157, and ACCME Standards for CME Program.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to problem-solve and make decisions.
  • Ability to relate well to all disciplines, exhibit tact, good judgment, initiative, and tolerance.
  • Ability to handle stress related to rush projects and deadlines, work under pressure in a highly productive office.
