Laboratory Assistant - Laboratory - Full Time 8 Hour Day Shift (Non Union)

The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for procuring blood samples from patients, for preserving the integrity of specimens and for proper transporting, processing and preparation of all samples. Support from Laboratory Assistants also includes clerical functions such as answering telephone inquiries from other departments of the facility, dissemination of laboratory reports and communicating with referral laboratories utilized by the department. Maintains supply inventory, medical files and prepares patient billing. Provides information to patients and physicians. Processes specimens for testing according to established procedures. Assures integrity of specimens and confidentiality of results.

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

Minimum Experience/Knowledge

At least two years working in a hospital setting

The hourly rate range for this position is $22 - $34.
