What a day looks like

You start your morning in a clean, well-organized prototype shop—Halcyon Manufacturing—where advanced CNC equipment hums through high-mix, low-volume work for Semiconductor, Medical, Aerospace, and Defense customers. You review incoming RFQs, open customer drawings and CAD, and quickly spot the features that drive risk and cycle time. You sketch a setup concept, outline key tooling, and build a preliminary routing in JobBOSS ERP so the team can quote with confidence. After lunch, you huddle with the Programming Manager and CNC Programmers to align on machining strategy for a complex 5-axis part, capture risk notes, and make sure travelers communicate the plan clearly for first-pass success. Before the day ends, you sync with Production and Quality to validate real-world feasibility and close the loop on any open questions.

Impact you’ll make

• Transform customer RFQs into accurate labor and process estimates across CNC milling (3-axis/5-axis), turning, and secondary operations.
• Build initial routing trees and operation sequences in JobBOSS ERP during quoting to set production up for success.
• Refine routings post-PO award with Programming and Production, ensuring the plan matches the machining approach.
• Develop lightweight pre-production plans (setup concepts, tooling considerations, risk notes) for complex or high-risk parts.
• Ensure travelers and routing steps are practical, clear, and execution-ready.

Collaboration at the core

• Partner with the Programming Manager, CNC Programmers, and Production Manager to define executable strategies.
• Communicate assumptions, risks, and critical characteristics to Quality Engineering and QC.
• Provide technical clarification during production as questions arise.

What you bring

• 5+ years hands-on CNC machining (mill and/or lathe required).
• Deep understanding of setups, tooling, fixturing, and machining strategy.
• Proven track record estimating complex CNC parts in a prototype/job-shop environment.
• Sharp blueprint reading and GD&T ; comfortable with tight tolerances (±.0001).
• Ability to interpret complex drawings and CAD models.
• Experience machining aluminum, steels, stainless steels, and super alloys.
• ERP familiarity— JobBOSS preferred (or similar).
• Comfort collaborating across Programming, Production, and Quality in a rapid-turn setting.

Compensation & benefits

• Pay: $40.00 – $50.00 per hour (DOE)
