Starting Compensation Range-$51,565-$64,456 + Benefits
*This is an hourly role, and is eligible for overtime compensation*

YOUR ROLE

The Ocean Import Specialist II is responsible for coordinating and managing the end-to-end ocean import process. This role ensures timely, compliant, and cost-effective movement of cargo from international origins to final destination, while maintaining strong communication with customers, carriers, brokers, and internal stakeholders.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

  • Manage ocean import shipments from booking through final delivery
  • Track and trace shipments; proactively resolve delays or exceptions
  • Coordinate with ocean carriers, freight forwarders, and trucking companies
  • Review and process import documentation (e.g., Bill of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists)
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and other governing agencies
  • Work closely with customs brokers to facilitate timely clearance
  • Serve as primary point of contact for clients regarding shipment status
  • Provide timely updates, problem resolution, and shipment milestones
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers and vendors
  • Accurately enter shipment details into transportation management systems (TMS)
  • Maintain shipment files and ensure data integrity
  • Generate reports and provide status updates as needed
  • Identify and resolve shipment discrepancies, delays, or damages
  • Coordinate corrective actions with internal and external partners
  • Escalate issues when necessary
  • Verify and process vendor invoices
  • Ensure accurate billing to customers
  • Monitor costs and identify opportunities for efficiency

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (preferred)
  • 2–5 years of experience in ocean imports, freight forwarding, or logistics
  • Strong knowledge of international shipping processes and import regulations
  • Familiarity with Incoterms, customs procedures, and documentation
