**Position Summary:**
The General Machinist II will operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments as per specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of machining processes, be able to work independently as well as part of a team, and demonstrate a commitment to quality and safety.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Set up and operate CNC and manual machines, including but not limited to lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine manufacturing processes.
- Select and install appropriate tooling and fixtures for the machined parts.
- Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure that parts meet tolerances and specifications.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as necessary to optimize production and maintain quality standards.
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machinery to minimize downtime.
- Keep accurate records of production output and maintenance activities.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with team members and engineers to improve production processes and efficiency.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training as required.

**Qualifications:**

- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in machining technology or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of [2-5] years of experience in a machining role, with proficiency in both CNC and manual machining operations.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tool geometry, and material properties.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software is a plus.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
- Understanding of safety regulations and practices in a machining environment.
